Abstract. This study examines the development of the meat industry in the Sverdlovsk Region under current economic conditions. Particular attention is paid to the impact of sanctions and import substitution issues. The study identifies trends in livestock population and production efficiency factors. It emphasizes the importance of government support for overcoming the difficulties caused by sanctions and proposes further development of a strategy for entering international markets.
