Abstract. To substantiate the basic principles of land accounting and appraisal, as well as a clear mechanism for managing natural resources from an ecological standpoint in accordance with current requests for rational use of natural resources and environmental protection, land assessment in order to obtain the most reliable result, it is necessary to take into account the manifestations of the ecological functions of the lithosphere, as one of the most important ecological criteria for assessing land, characterizing their general ecological state and natural environment. The aim of the work is to theoretically substantiate the mechanism of ecological and geological assessment of the earth. In this case, the method of systemic research was used. Results. It is shown that the shape, nature and intensity of manifestation of the ecological functions of the lithosphere are the main criteria for the cadastral assessment of lands, determining and reflecting the role and importance of the earth's crust in the ecological situation of the territory. Regional planning for the development and restoration of a certain territory and forecasting the dynamics of the development of the ecological situation under the influence of natural and man-made loads requires the reduction of some inventories into a single block. At the same time, a modern cadastre should contain information about the functional capabilities of the surface layers of the earth's crust, which affect the formation of the ecological situation and the conditions for the existence of biota. Scientific novelty. It is proposed to take into account the manifestations of the ecological functions of the lithosphere when assessing lands to characterize their general ecological state.
Key words: geological ecology, land assessment, functions of the lithosphere, ecological functions of the lithosphere, ecological-geological cadastre, ecological-geological systems.
