Abstract: the authors analyze the definition of the Red Book of Russia, study this subject from the point of view of international and national law, and also draw a conclusion about the importance of the red book for both agricultural and legal Sciences. The article deals with the main legal conflicts regarding the Red Book: not being a normative legal act, the Red Book allows to interpret Russian legislation, including criminal and environmental. Having studied the legislation, the authors came to the conclusion that a number of normative legal acts refer to the expired decree Of the Government of the Russian Federation "on the red book of the Russian Federation".
