Abstract. The article presents the basic elements of the concept of rural areas’ human capital (developed in the course of the study), including (1) the level structure of the phenomenon, (2) its systemic (relational) nature, (3) its specific qualities, (4) the determinability of the state and the formed (prospective) trends in the development of rural territories, (5) the conditionality of the influence of formal and informal institutions, (6) manageability and adaptability. The paper focuses on the novelty of both the methods used in the study and the originality of the obtained results. The theoretical basis of the undertaken scientific research was the work of foreign and domestic scientists in the field of regional development, human capital, rural areas.
