The legal regulation of relations in the field of environmental protection is based on the Constitution of the Russian Federation and consists of the Federal Law "On Environmental Protection" and other federal laws, as well as other regulatory legal acts of the Russian Federation applied in accordance with them, as well as laws and other regulatory legal acts of the subjects of the Russian Federation. According to the Federal Law "On Environmental Protection", the content of the term environmental protection looks like this: environmental protection - activities of state authorities of the Russian Federation, state authorities of the subjects of the Russian Federation, local self-government bodies, public and other non-profit associations, legal entities and individuals aimed at preserving and restoring the natural environment, rational use of natural resources, prevention of negative effects of economic and other activities on the environment and elimination of its consequences (hereinafter also environmental protection activity). The purpose of this scientific research is an economic and legal analysis of the state of complex relations in the field of natural resource use and environmental protection, as well as legal protection of the environment. The scientific novelty lies in the study of a complex of relations in the field of environmental management and the impact of the use of natural resources on the environment. Research methods: legal analysis; environmental assessment; regulatory and legal; synthesis and generalization. The theoretical significance of this work is due to the possibility of using the research material to improve environmental legislation in terms of legal protection of the environment. The practical significance of this research lies in the use of the material in law-making activities, as well as in the educational and scientific activities of students in institutions of secondary specialized and higher education in the areas of environmental foundations of environmental protection and legal protection of the environment.
