The text of this study speaks about the importance of preserving the land as a constitutional value of our state. The relevant norms of the Basic Law of the Russian Federation are considered and the relevance of studying the legal protection of lands is argued. The analysis of the land legislation is carried out. The author of the work considers the definition of the concept of land protection from the point of view of the Land Code of the Russian Federation. The analysis of the concept of land protection allowed us to conclude about the value of land as a resource, to study the characteristics of subjects involved in land protection, and also to determine that land protection is the responsibility of some individuals, organizations and authorities. The purpose of land protection is given on the pages of the article. Also, as a preventive method of land protection, the author of this study analyzed administrative and criminal liability for violation of legislation on land protection. In addition, the article focuses on judicial practice on the stated research topic.
